Nokia c3 and it's prospects in the Indian market:

Hello there tech people ,

I am back again with yet another insight of a new Nokia device :)
But this time with a market perspective from and for my motherland INDIA.

This new mass market s40 device is the first one with a qwerty keyboard like the E series phones and it is named as Nokia C3 (c stands for classic, weird naming convention i would say, but rather easy to remember)

now let me visually present it for you :

This phone here is the first qwerty s40 phone from Nokia, not only that, there are many things you need to see,so... here are the feature specs:

*QWERTY keypad for easier and faster typing.
*s40 6th edition software sporting an active homescreen with facebook and twitter feeds.
*QVGA(320X240) TfT screen in landscape for a wider view.
*2.0 Megapixel camera with EDoF(extended depth of field)
*WiFi 802.11 b/g,bluetooth 2.1
*Quad band GSM,EDGE(no 3g)
*In-Built Nokia messaging and chat.
*Social networks like facebook, twitter also integrated in applications.

And all the above features you get for just around Rs.5000 - 6000 with taxes.
So that makes this phone one of the cheapest WiFi phones in the whole universe :)

Now that we have seen the features let us see how its prospect is in the indian market...

The indian market for mobile phones is a very peculiar market. Let me explain how it sells here.
Almost 95% of the mobile phones here sell unlocked, almost all carriers provide GSM bands for communication so it is highly competitive. You buy a phone, put a sim(if you have already bought it from nearby general stores) in it and start using it, thats how simple it is here in India. So, mobile phones sell like hot cakes or rather i'd say hot samosas :).
This is where nokia c3 comes in, it is one really hot samosa for us Indians to pick it up and consume it in vast numbers. Here's why:

The inclusion of WiFi is one of the USPs in India according to me,
All urban kids are socially networked, so they all almost have internet in their homes which is normally either a BSNL/MTNL connection(comes with Wifi modem default nowadays) or an airtel connection(no default WiFi like bsnl/mtnl), and further more services like zylog's wi5 and tikona offer wireless hotspots all over the cities. So, technically everybody would want to use/share their own home internet connection for internet browsing from mobile rather than using the very costly and slow EDGE service. So, i think the WiFi feature is very attractive that too at this price point, which in turn is another big USP of this device.

Always at this price point there is no real competition for nokia, they rule the roost,be it the vastly successful 2700C and the new 3g version of it, or the oldie goldie 5200 xpressmusic, nokia have always captured our attention at this price point. So, budget minded customers, who always look for more features and less price will lap up this phone with ease. And further more, the qwerty keypad has been around for a long time but it is new for the budget minded buyers and since it is a new one for them, they would definitely want to try it out.

So, overall the phone provides a BIG bang for the buck, and its prospects in the indian market look great :)

Hope nokia launches it soon with a good marketing strategy and gets the same reception it got from indonesia :)

Thats it for now folks, feel free to leave some comments about the phone.
